Alison is an Accredited Pharmacist and Credentialled Diabetes Educator at Diabetes WA providing diabetes education to patients in rural and remote parts of WA through their telehealth service. An accredited pharmacist with twenty years clinical experience; she has been involved in delivering a clinical medication service to various hospitals throughout Australia and England before focusing on medication management services within the community. Alison has been credentialled as a diabetes educator for five years and an asthma educator for eight years.
At present, she also works within the community completing Home Medicine Reviews and residential medication management reviews to five nursing homes in Perth WA. She recently resigned as ADEA-WA Branch education officer; a role that saw her implement, and continue to develop, a journal club utilising telehealth to connect members of ADEA within WA.
Alison’s aim is to optimise health outcomes through the safe and effective use of medicines. She would like to encourage families and members of our community to utilise health services available in pharmacies: to be a pharmacist that guides, educates and improves self-management skills. She is committed to providing individual person-centred care using a team-based approach to maximise health outcomes.
